Three-Day Hiking Trip to Arcadia

Experience a three-day trip full of action, exploration and rejuvenation in beautiful Arcadia! On our excursion we will visit the historic Kapsia cave, hike the famous trails of Mainalo, in Piana – Arkoudorema, there will be a guided tour of the village’s Folklore Museum, visit Libovisi, the village of Theodoros Kolokotronis in the beautiful heart of mountainous Arcadia & visit the historic house, we will make our traditional kite and finally we will cut our pie and distribute rich gifts and of course we will conquer the highest peak, Ostrakina 1981m.

We have prepared for you 3 beautiful hikes, one of which will be an evening hike, accommodation in the most hospitable shelter, and unforgettable moments!!!

Our overnight stay will be at the Mainalo shelter, where on Saturday night, a very nice, very Greek feast will be set up just for our group!

Detailed Program

Day 1 - SATURDAY (AFTERNOON):

07.30: Departure from Syntagma metro station to Kapsia Cave.

Estimated arrival time +/-10.00.

We will be divided into 2 groups and the tour will last approximately 50 minutes.

At the end of the tour for both groups, we will have free time for a light lunch at the restaurant - cafe located in the cave area.

+/- 13.30 departure to the Mainalo mountain refuge 'Panos Alexopoulos'.

Free time and in the afternoon we begin the climb to the peak of Mesovouni 1860m

Return to the refuge, dinner and party.

2nd Day - SUNDAY:

After having breakfast, the coach takes us to the village of Piana, where our hike begins.

The village of Piana, in the Falantho area, combines unique natural beauty with a rich history. It bears the name of the god Pan, a symbol of life and vegetation, and has been designated a preserved settlement. Its traditional architecture, the abundant waters that even supply Tripoli with water, and its location on the slopes of Mainalo make it special. The Elissonas River passes through its fertile plain, while nearby are the ruins of ancient Dipaea. In the village of Piana, there will be a guided tour of the folklore museum.

The hike starts from the picturesque village of Piana, at an altitude of 1080m, and leads us through a magical route full of forests, streams and Arcadian landscapes. The path passes through lush green slopes with fir trees, oaks and walnut trees, offering unique images. On the way we will encounter the famous Elissonas Springs, a landscape of unique natural beauty with crystal clear waters, small waterfalls and natural lakes, accompanied by legends about ancient pilgrims.

We will end up in the famous Limbovisi, the village of Theodoros Kolokotronis in the beautiful “heart” of mountainous Arcadia, where there will be a guided tour of Kolokotronis’ house. Free time in the picturesque square with the traditional cafe. Return to the shelter, rest because the afternoon will find us preparing our traditional kites for the next day!

The day ends with a meal, the cutting of our pie and feasting as much as we can!

Day 3 - KATHARA MONDAY:

After breakfast, we prepare to climb the highest peak, Ostrakina 1981m. The view from up there is breathtaking and reveals the vastness of nature in all its glory. The lush green valleys that spread out before your eyes create a panorama that you will never forget.

Return to the shelter and we prepare to fly our traditional kites. Let's see if we can make it.

Towards noon, now filled with beautiful images and full of batteries, we set off for our return to Athens! Another magical 3-day trip has come to an end, but its images will follow us forever.

Our two-day excursion is aimed for people in good physical condition and a love for nature and the mountains. The participant must be able to walk for more than 3 hours without any issues.
