Athens Architecture at the Interwar Electric Bike Tour

This thematic route is a journey in Athens during the interwar period 1925-1939. An Athens, which was trying to self-identify, even in its architectural identity, and was thirsty to become a metropolitan city.

On a route that begins and ends next to the Acropolis, we will move to the labyrinthine but with many pleasant surprises downtown and it will be enough to raise our heads a little to admire the selected buildings of the route as the Greek architects of the time, influenced by international modern style, managed in almost two decades to bring modernism to their buildings and the comforts of the new era in the daily life of Athenians

We will see that some buildings retained elements of the neoclassical style that closed its circle, but most had strong influences from the trends of the time, eclecticism, Art Deco, etc. to reach the Bauhaus with the architectural Athenian volumes on their facades. And they are scattered all over the city, which is why we will look for them wherever we go, either from the big boulevards, or from the picturesque areas with the two-storey buildings or from the cosmopolitan areas.

We will listen to short stories, we will learn about the innovations of the buildings of the time, we will recognize and admire the way the Greek architects of the time managed to offer a sample that is unparalleled anywhere else in the world.
