An ascent to the imposing summit of Helmos at 2,355 meters.
The volume of Helmos, or the Aroan Mountains, dominates between the great ravines of Vouraikos and the mythical river Krathi! With rich relief and impressive nature, the climb to the top of Helmos offers magical images to its visitors. Starting from Xirokambos, just before the parking lot of the Ski Center, and at an altitude of about 1,600 meters, we follow a forest road that leads us through a dense fir forest. We hike through the unspoiled nature of Helmos enjoying the peace and tranquility of the mountain. Entering the alpine zone and climbing to the top, we pass Neraidorachi, the most famous peak of Achaia! One of the most modern telescopes in Europe has been installed at an altitude of 2,238 meters. Neraidorachi is one of the darkest regions of Europe, thus giving the Aristarchus telescope the ability to penetrate deep into the universe! From the High Peak of Helmos at 2,355 meters we have the opportunity to enjoy an amazing view! The imposing Erymanthos to the west and Durdouvana, Kyllini, and the steep edges of the other peaks of Helmos really steal the show.
Descending towards our starting point we will enjoy a nice break for a delicious picnic!
