Athens Private Tour to Loutraki Lake, Corinth and Geraneia Mountain (ATH22)
Activity Description
This is an excellent route to escape Athens in private and discover the west part of Attica in a premium seven-seated off-road vehicle. Mount Geraneia, one of the most outstanding mountain ranges of Peloponnese, is embraced by three gulfs – the Saronic Gulf, the Corinthian Gulf, and the Gulf of Alkyonides. It offers an amazing off-road route with a panoramic view of the gulfs of Corinth and Saronicos, as well as on all the surrounding mountains. Small plateaus with pine and fir trees, chapels and historic monasteries, and uncharted routes through rich fauna and vegetation that lead to the sunken lake of “Vouliagmeni” offer a unique private escape in West Athens.
Our day starts after we pick you up from your hotel or a point close to the indicated hotel if car access is not possible, and we will follow the national road heading west by the Saronic golf and towards Corinth. At Megara village, we leave the national road and head onwards to the foot of Geraneia Mountain where our adventure route will start. Driving through lush vegetation (fir & plane trees, oak and myrtle trees, pine trees) and wild animals (like jackals, foxes, cranes, and eagles), lots of natural springs with crystal water, and numerous monasteries we reach the Monastery of Holy Mary in Parthi, one of the oldest in Peloponnese, for a short refreshing stop. Continuing our adventure route through the peaks of Geraneia Mountain in a premium seven-seated off-road vehicle we admire the panoramic view of Vouliagmeni Lake and Loutraki from above. Crossing traditional villages we are going to visit a traditional Greek tavern where we will be welcomed by the owner. He will introduce us to Greek Mediterranean cuisine and heartfelt Hellenic hospitality with plenty of local food.
After lunch, we follow the route to Lake Vouliagmeni for a short walk and photos. Just before the way back to Athens, we will pass by the Corinth Canal that separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland and also connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. An amazing photo opportunity just before we head back to Athens.
