3-day Excursion to Agrafa - 3 peaks (from Athens) on 27-29/9

This September we are taking you to the most beloved mountains in the world! With a wonderful stay at Plastira lake, 2 unforgettable hiking trails and good food!!!

Three-day program

Friday 27/9

17:30 - Rendezvous at the Chalandrio metro station and departure by bus. Our trip to Lake Plastira and Neochori will take about 4 hours, including a stop for food (not included in the price).

22:00 – Arrival in Neochori and settling in the rooms.

Our accommodation will be at the excellent boutique hotel "Pandion".

Saturday 28/9

08:00 – Breakfast at the Guest House

09:00 – Departure by car for the Agrafon refuge at an altitude of 1,536 m, in the "Karamanoli" area of ​​Neraida (approx. 25') (route map) and start of the hike.

Sunday 29/9

08:00 – Breakfast at the Guest House

09:00 – Departure by car for the Ag. Nikolaou Vlasiou (about 1.5 hours) (route map) and start of the hike.

Description of Routes

Day 1: Agrafon Refuge – Voutsikaki (and return)

We start from the mountain refuge of Agrafa, above Neraida and the blue waters of Lake Megdova (Plastira). Our first goal is Templa peak, a relatively low peak (altitude, 1809m.) in the north-eastern Agrafi.

We walk constantly seeing the waters of the lake to our right. One by one, the nearby villages are also revealed: Pezoula, the lakeside Kalivia Pezoulas, Phylakti. Higher up, through the tops of the fir trees, the roofs of the houses of Neraida project, which has always been a holiday center for the people of Karditsi.

We reach Templa in about 30' and continue further east, aiming for the scenic Voutsikaki (altitude 2154 m.), one of the highest mountains of Agrafa. From the Petalouda pass we descend to the pass that separates Templa and Voutsikaki. From now on, our path is strongly uphill. First up to the 1900 meters of the rim of the large sinkhole that Voutsikaki forms under the crown of its peaks and then on the steep ridge that leads to the highest peak. Ridge exposed to the weather with a delightful view both to the majestic cliffs to the right and left of the ridge, and to the lake.

We arrive at our destination after a total journey of about three hours. Once again we are at the point that we can describe as the "veranda" of Agrafa, since all the peaks of this huge complex are around us.

Day 2: Agios Nikolaos – Barracks (and return)

The most common ascent to Kazarma starts from the pass of Agios Nikolaos above Vlasi and after about 1.45' of moderate difficulty we reach the fire station.

Useful information about the routes:

• A classic "climbing" route is the 1st day route. It moves in the alpine zone (above 1500m) and is of moderate difficulty. There is actually a passage high up near Voutsikaki that needs attention and can be described as difficult not so much for the technical difficulty but for the feeling it gives as it is high and the view to the left and right is breathtaking! The route has several uphill spots and rock walking that will challenge our endurance. No previous experience is required but good physical condition is required because it is about 11km.
• The route of the 2nd day is much easier. It is particularly uphill at the beginning but soon we reach the top and forget our fatigue enjoying the wonderful view.
• The return for both routes is planned to be made from the same road. On the 1st day because the view is nicer than the classic route and on the 2nd day in order to return sooner (we also have the return trip....) Depending on the dynamics of the group we may vary the returns but this will be decided on the spot and only in in case the entire group (accompanier and all participants) agrees.
• Hiking shoes and comfortable clothing (sports or mountaineering) always help the hiker and provide comfort and safety. Necessary equipment are mountaineering shoes, a medium-sized backpack (eg 30lt), water bottle and raincoat. Optional: walking stick, sunscreen, hat.
• Attention! We will move at altitude and in an alpine zone! The weather there can change at any moment. A sunny warm day where we need enough water, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen can easily turn into a day with strong wind and rain and need the corresponding equipment (fleece, waterproof, cap or buff, protector for the backpack, etc.). Excursion cost:

• The cost of the excursion is €280 per person in a double room.
• The single charge is €50 per day. The cost is €380.
