School of Paragliding Beginners with Certificate
Activity Description
The Paragliding School is in its third decade in Greece. All these years it has been trying to be consistent in her duty to students. Evolve pilots and evolve at the same time, so that it can provide the knowledge, equipment and training to make the world safer. All instructors in the school are graduates of the Hellenic Athletic Federation. Their purpose is to train properly, to inspire Air Sport, and above all to provide all the equipment needed to fly safely and have fun.
There is no discount on the equipment we use at school. We only use the best equipment based on international data, which we replace every year to keep it up to date.
The road to education is long and enjoyable at every stage. There are three main stages:
1) Territory:
The first contact with the equipment. Our goal is for the student to get to know the equipment and to learn to operate it properly. There are also theoretical courses and seminars on meteorology, aerodynamics, flight technique, etc. (3-4 days duration)
2) Low flights (hill):
The first flights. Low flights, from 10 to 60 meters, are performed so that the pupil is aware of the take-off and contact with the ground during landing. He also learns to slowly fly his parachute into the air. Training on the hill takes 3-4 days
3) Tall flights (350 m):
The culmination of the student and teacher effort. Tall flights are quite exciting, as staying in the air is longer than on the hill. At this stage, students realize the greatness of free flight. High flights last 6 days.
Theoretical courses
At each stage there are 3-hour theoretical lessons on aerodynamics, meteorology, engineering and flight techniques.
Degree:
At the end of school you get the certificate of completion of basic education and you have the opportunity to take the exam and get your first diploma. You will know a lot about parachuting, but you will not be able to make the right decisions about where and how. you will fly. This will take some time. That is why proper guidance from a trainer is essential for your safety, development and better experience.
Where:
We fly north through Kithairon, about an hour from Athens. With South Winds in the area of M. Pefkos, about 40 minutes from Athens. With West Winds, our area is not safe for paragliding.
Limitations:
You must be over 18 and up to 58 years old and your weight not to exceed 105 kg.Candidates should not have any health problems (a health certificate will be required) for the issuance of their athletic identity by the Hellenic Athletic Federation.
Physical condition:
Not special, since paragliding is more of a brain sport.
When are the lessons:
Classes are mainly on weekends, but also on weekdays, if a student at school is unable to attend on weekends. You will work about 4-5 hours each day. It takes 10 days to complete basic education, though of course, it depends on the weather.
Risk:
The parachute is a fairly safe flying device, flying the commands it receives from the pilot. The human factor is the one that causes problems either because of ignorance or because of the wrong mentality of the operator, as is the case with any medium used by man.
