Day trip to the estuary of the Pineios River with kayaks, pedalos and sup

On the northern side of the Municipality of Agia near the settlements of Omolio and Paliopyrgos is the Pineios River Delta, which is a wetland and a wild life reserve. 

It is a wetland that plays an important role in the preservation of biological diversity and the maintenance of ecological balance and has all the physical-biological characteristics to be included in the areas covered by the protection regime of international conventions. It has been designated as a Landscape of Special Natural Beauty (SNA).

Internationally, it belongs to the Important Bird Areas (IMBA) since 226 species of birds belonging to more than 50 genera have been observed in the area. But also the fish fauna of the fresh waters of the river and the sea area are rich in populations and species.

We offer you an unforgettable experience with canoes, kayaks, pedaloes, water bikes & sup at the mouth of the Pineios River.

• We start from Kouloura, at 9.00 am, which is a small settlement next to Messagala at a distance of 1.5 km from the sea.
• Kouloura Beach is sandy and award-winning, next to it the Pineios Delta stands out.
• From there we can choose between two-seater kayaks, sup, water bikes, and 2 hydro-bikes and start our tour together with the certified guide.
• After 40 minutes of water tour, in the areas of Kouloura and Alexandrini a place of rare beauty, a place with fishermen who divide their route between the river and the sea, incredible vegetation and colors emerge and we can stop at the fishermen's boats and capture the moments. 
• We continue our water tour by reaching the nearby beaches, where we can enjoy the sea and swim for an hour.
• Our water tour will proceed with bird watching since 226 species of birds belonging to more than 50 genera were observed in the area. Characteristically, the absence of a port has turned the estuary into a natural sheltered bay for the boats and small boats of the local fishermen.
• Finally, we will be driven to Kouloura, to a floating terrace, where a rich meal awaits us with grilled fresh fish, salad, and plenty of tsipouro (juice available for our little friends).
