Canyoning Manikia
The smallest and most beautiful gorge near Athens is none other than the Manikia gorge in Evia.
The gorge can be visited during the summer months when the quantities of water are safe for canyoning.
It has 4 descents, small slides and jumps and its most impressive part is its large waterfall (28 meters).
The entrance to the gorge can be reached via a 10-minute downhill hike, also the exit is quite easy and has no special requirements from the visitors.
The gorge during the summer months becomes a destination for the locals and not only for swimming in its wonderful pools.
It is a small but very pleasant canyon that one can combine with a beautiful day trip to Evia, offering endless options for eating and swimming in amazing places.
At the end of summer and depending on the annual rainfall it may be dry, but other canyon options are provided near thea Manikia Canyon.
Activity point
The canyon is located in the homonymous village of Evia Manikia and the distance that separates it from Athens is about 2.30 hours.
Its approach is difficult since it includes narrow roads and many turns that need caution.
To enter and exit the gorge we will need to drive about 2 km. on a dirt road.
