Originally buried in the church of Agios Georgios, his body and holy relic were placed in a marble urn. In 1832, the relic was thrown into a wooden pile but miraculously remained intact. Today, the shrine attracts people seeking healing. In 1924 the relic was brought to Evia by Christian residents of Prokopio.
